Moms need each other- women in general need the support of other women. Who can better identify, empathize or best understand what our lives are like as Moms, working Moms, wives, daughters, sisters, etc.?! I never understood the “cattiness” or want to bring another woman down just to look good. If I can teach other younger women at my firm or in general anything, it is to be empathetic, understanding, supportive and nonjudgmental. Wouldn’t it be nice to listen and share our stories with each other more? I don’t know if I would call it a mission as much as I’d like to see women talk more openly about their lives. Many stories that I hear at work or from friends at home are entirely relatable and most often helpful to me and others in current and future situations. Why not support each other, build each other up, share experiences to open the dialogue. It’s sometimes a lot to balance it all..in heels, but we do what we have to do and we try to it well. Just today I spoke with another Mom in my office who once I shared my blog with her was giving me all kinds of great advice. I love the dialogue and more importantly the support. I’m hoping by putting myself out there in the way I have chosen through my blog opens a conversation about anything balancing like a mom related! There are networks at work, industry related organizations, and other ways to get involved in supporting other women, but I think we can start small by speaking with those around us.
Like Ellen says, “be kind to one another.”
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
